teaching better.

areas of expertise are composition, arranging and
performing.

He is part of The Troubadours World Music Ensemble and performs at Silky Lounge in Dearborn as well as at art fairs and city festivals (including Plymouth). He

passion . . . music.

progress towards their own creative goals.
Chuck Newsome

Blue Fish Music and Paul Murphy have created the
ideal environment for people of all ages to study
music. After teaching elsewhere and privately, I
found an inspiring home at Blue Fish. I strive to
reach as many students as I can, to contribute to a
more musical place to live and work.

Chuck has completed his Bachelor at Wayne State
University this past winter and will begin his
Master, both in Jazz studies. He has studied
privately with Jeff Davis, Steven Carryer and Fareed
Haque to name a few. He has attended Master classes with Chick Corea, Randy Johnston and Joe Lavana.

His strengths are in composition, theory, transcription, arranging, note reading, harmonizing
melodies, counterpoint, and rhythmic studies.
Chuck has been part of Smokestack since 1999,
performing all over Michigan, the surrounding states
and in places as far away as Colorado,  New York City, Quebec and Ontario. He also hosts the Jazz Jam Session in Detroit on Monday nights and has played in the WSU Jazz Big Band.

He specializes in Jazz, Rock, Fusion, Bluegrass/Country, Funk, R&B and Latin/World.
Teaching not only allows me to discuss music with
people of all ages and backgrounds but also reconnects me daily with the reason I started playing in the first place! For the love of it.
